c-ville spaces and so on
hey loved ones,
well, it's beautiful in virginia. my head is newly shorn (LOVEIT), my cat is loving but increasingly violent every time i try to stop petting her, and i'm sleeping a truly ursine amount.
apart from that, here are some red umbrella related things:
first off, i've been looking into c-ville spaces. some ideas that are fermenting right now are -- the old A&N space on the mall (totally empty, gutted in fact, and on the market), Play On Theater's space (the other side of the IX building, provided that they're dark when we want to perform), Gravity Lounge (Lauren has connections with the owner!), the Renaissance School (obviously a great, potentially-easy-to-get space, and probably free for the summer), the Bridge (a sweet, up-and-coming, gritty venue across from Spudnuts -- my friend Allen's company has an in with them).
i think the reason i'm pushing hard for c-ville is because, well, i've got some Life-Figuring to do. i didn't talk a lot about this in Cold Spring, but i'm starting to realize that all of us have at least a year-long plan for what their future looks like after this summer -- that is, all of us except me. so, yes. i just want to be able to balance our wonderful summer adventure with some sort of planning for, uh, the immediate rest-of-my-life. indeed.
i'll keep updating. a question: are we trying to spend nothing on a venue (i mean, obviously that's awesome), or are we willing to pay a bit? thoughts? also, ideal size of space?
love and things

i know we have a wee bit of capital from our previous adventures, and i would be ok with sacrificing that and more if we can get ourselves set up somewhere nice this summer (nice = crumbling and magical). i mean, space is usually our biggest dilemma. i know katie and i are gunning for richmond, but the aforementioned spaces mostly sound super-cool. i will say that i would like to avoid co-oping with something like Play On if possible (as much as i love the IX building in theory). ideally we could have a temple of our own, even if for a short time. we will research richmond with a separate post.
