PLANS

Greetings greetings.

I continue to tempt with more information, but I'm actually having an increasingly difficult time contacting Katie. What with her phone being down and internet being a rarity, I can imagine it's difficult. But in any case, I'm doing some snooping about on my own.

Firstoff though, let's decide on what we want to work on this summer. I know that this month was actually our deadline; let's make it better late than never. I am completely down to create a performance based on ROH. I think it's something that resonates with us all, and is perfect for cannibalization/inspiration. I am really down with all our choices so far, but ROH seems the most useful, so if we all like that, I move that we set it and go forward from there.

Katie has a bunch of contacts in Richmond that might help us with warehouse space, and she is also much more in with the art crowd (Gallery 5, etc.), but one thing that I have been talking to people about is what's going on in the Shafer Street Playhouse this summer. It's the dilapidated, repurposed hospital that we use for most of our classes, with a theatre jammed into the bottom. I did Titus in a classroom there. The point is, it's shamefully underused during the summer. There are a handful of summer classes that meet now and then, but there's no theatre being done, and the students that are in charge of facilitating the student productions (Shafer Alliance Theatre) want to do a summer season with whoever's around. We probably wouldn't even have to speak with the University proper. SALT is mostly comprised of good friends and colleagues of mine, and from Katie's and my work, they have a lot of respect for what we do.

So that's a possibility. I'd still rather find a place of our own though. I just think Richmond is a perfect place to start: easy, cheap, close to home for most of us, and with a really strong burgeoning art scene.

Let me know how other possibilities are panning out. I'll keep trying to meet with Katie and see if we can make some real progress.
